Portraits
Painted portraits have a personal quality that most photographs lack, because a portrait can capture a person's impression as well as their expression. It is a work of art as well as a likeness of one's self or a loved one; they capture a moment in feeling more than a moment in time. For a photograph, the shutter opens and closes in an instant. During a sitting for a portrait, there is an entire interaction that takes place between artist and subject. Jennifer tries to capture more than a simple physical likeness; she likes her paintings to reflect more.
