This began as a pen and ink drawing done in 1991 and I decided to do multiple versions of this work in varying color using watercolor and magic markers. The original line drawing does not show any obvious classic elven features such as pointed ears, but the subject represented was always intended to be tied in with Faerie in some way. That energy was partly embodied in the rune which has secret meaning. I did maybe 3 or 4 original versions of this in color, but my favorite is this one; the drow. The other versions had red hair or dark hair, or various tones were used for the skin and the garments. This is the only one which includes a hand, although I remember adding a hand to one I colored for a customer at a convention. I have sold at least 2 original other versions I came up with on the base of this drawing, and I would have trouble locating them for representation here on the site, but I might be able to re-create or create them or create new versions if I have requests for them. I remember that one went to auction at BayCon in San Jose one year. It was one where I had used markers as well as watercolor. I don't use markers very often anymore, because the color quality too quickly fades.
